KN Celebrates 40th Anniversary in Style

Life begins at 40 say most people. For corporations, being in existence for 40 years is an achievement to celebrate, more so in an industry that is ever-changing and evolving. Kontena Nasional completed its 40 years on 26 August 2011. What a far cry the Company is today as compared to the first days of rented office, one prime mover and three staff. Today KN is not only a major player in local container haulage but has also extended its range of services to be a total logistics service provider. 

Commemorating the occasion, the Company’s major customers and business associates were feted to a gala dinner on Friday, September 30, 2011 at the Sime Darby Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.  Chairman of Kontena Nasional , Y.A. Bhg Tun Ahmad Sarji bin Abdul Hamid was the Guest of Honour and he was accompanied with his wife, Y. A. Bhg Toh Puan Sagiyah binti Salikin. Also in attendance were the Directors and Senior Management of NCB Holdings Bhd , Northport Malaysia Bhd and KN Group of Companies. 

Our CEO, En. Hood Osman welcomed the guests with a short speech on the past , present and future path of the Company. This was followed by some inspiring words from the Guest of Honour, Y.A. Bhg Tun Ahmad Sarji, who took the opportunity to thank everyone who had played a part in making KN what it is today. 

Among the distinguished guests seen at the function were the President and CEO of Maybank, the MD of Sime Property, the Group MD of Island and Peninsular, the Group CEO of Prolintas and officials from the Government agencies . Also present at the dinner were KN’s Indonesian partners from the PT Blue Bird Group of Indonesia &  PT Ritra Group of Indonesia. 

The function started with mocktails and networking with customers and associates at 6:30 pm and with dinner commencing at 8:00 p.m.  Guests were served an elaborate western set dinner and whilst enjoying dinner, they were entertained with performances by the Chinese drum show, the traditional Indian peacock dance and the Zapin performed by young children.  The main performances that night were from Y. Bhg Dato’ David Aramugam of the Alleycats and Ms Syafinaz, the Malaysian soprano. Guests were thrilled  with their singing prowess and entertaining performances. 

The highlight of the night was the signing of the 40th Anniversary Plaque by Y.A.Bhg Tun Ahmad Sarji to commemorate the Anniversary of KN. 

Overall, it was a night to remember for the 500 people gathered that night. We would like to thank all of them for sharing the glorious moment with Kontena Nasional!
