TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS

KONTENA NASIONAL GROUP’S NOTICE ON CONTINUATION OF SERVICE FROM 18TH MARCH TO 31ST MARCH, 2020

The abovementioned matter refers.

  1. As you are aware, the Prime Minister has announced yesterday evening that a Restricted Movement Order shall be imposed nationwide from 18th March to 31st March, 2020. We at Kontena Nasional Berhad and Its subsidiary, Kontena Nasional Global Logistics Sdn. Bhd. as providers of essential services under Section 2 of the First Schedule of the Industrial Relations Act 1967 (Act 177), will operate our business as usual during this period.
  2. In view of the partial lockdown, we anticipate that some of the business premises of our customers and/or receiving parties will be closed, hence a pressing need to plan and coordinate our activities carefully and efficiently to minimise losses to parties involved.
  3. Therefore, kindly be informed that we will need to be notified in advance (latest by 5pm, 18th March 2020) if any standing instructions previously issued still stand and remain unchanged or otherwise and that both the sending and receiving parties have given confirmation on the same. This will enable us to prepare and plan our resources accordingly.
  4. In the event that delivery or activities are impeded due to the failure of any counter-party in notifying us in advance of any changes, KNB shall not be held responsible for any additional charges or penalties such as Detention, Demurrage, penalties and/or additional port storage charges and other such losses incurred in this partial lockdown period ("Charges").
  5. Additionally and in connection thereto, any new instructions given to us from 18th March 2020 onwards will be also proceeded with as usual and any Charges incurred as a result of the partial lockdown, (directly or incidental thereto) will be borne absolutely by the customers as they are deemed to constitute a foreseeable contingency imposed by governmental policy.
  6. We would also like to hear from our Warehouse customers if customers too are strained by this announcement and if their plans for the said period have changed so that we could work on mitigating actions that can be taken to minimise the impact. We hope to have your cooperation and together pass through this difficult time unscathed.
